Argentine squid still accounts for more than a quarter of export categories

Argentine Illex squid has been a major growth driver, with its exports accounting for more than a quarter of total exports.

Argentine Illex squid exports reached 135,227 tons, a 10% year-on-year increase, with an average export price of $2,769 per ton, up 9.7%, totaling export revenues of $374.39 million, a 20.8% year-on-year growth.

65% of Argentine Illex squid catches were exported to China, with Thailand and Spain also being important markets.

Shrimp tail exports were 31,085 tons, a 12.8% year-on-year increase, with export revenues of $227.27 million, an export price of $7,311 per ton, a slight 0.8% decrease. China remains the primary export market, with exports growing 6.5%.

Whole shrimp exports were 8,196 tons, a 41.7% year-on-year decrease, with an export price of $5,132 per ton. Due to a 4.8% decline in export prices, total revenue dropped 44.5%, with traditional markets like Spain, Italy, and Japan reducing purchases by 46.9%-55%.

Cod fillet exports continued to decline, falling 14.3% in volume and 17.3% in revenue, with an average price of $3,166 per ton. Its primary market, Brazil, reduced purchases by 17.8%, and sales to Spain also dropped 7.6%.

Patagonian black hake market demand remained stable, with exports growing 12.3% compared to the previous year. Exports to the United States increased by 36%.

The fish's price also significantly rose by 7.4%, reaching $27,280 per ton, with 899 tons generating $24.53 million in revenue.

King crab (centolla) exports sharply declined, decreasing 37% from the previous year.

Despite increased demand from the US market (39%), the Chinese market's demand dropped more significantly (56%), and the average king crab price fell 6.3% to $19,010 per ton. With 645 tons exported, revenues were only $12.26 million.
