An outbreak of African swine fever (ASF) has been confirmed at a pig farm in Yangju, Gyeonggi Province, marking the eleventh case in South Korea this year and the first in Yangju. The farm, which houses approximately 5,500 pigs, reported the suspicion to the quarantine authorities after four sows died. Following the confirmation, a 'Temporary Movement Stop Order (Standstill)' for livestock facilities in seven cities and counties in Gyeonggi Province has been issued, and an epidemiological investigation and cull of pigs from the confirmed farm are planned. The number of confirmed ASF farms in Korea since September 2019 has now increased to 49, with the majority of cases found in Gyeonggi and Gangwon provinces.
