The Sarawak Veterinary Services Department has taken over control of pig farms in Mongkos, Tebedu District, following the detection of African Swine Fever (ASF) in pigs. This action is aimed at preventing the spread of the disease to other farms. The Minister of Food Industry, Commodities and Regional Development, Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom, has urged farmers to improve biosecurity and control the movement of livestock, vehicles, and people. He also mentioned that there is no vaccine or cure for ASF and highlighted the symptoms of the disease. Utom assured the public that the supply of pork in Sarawak for Christmas is sufficient and safe to eat.
