Astrakhan region increased rice harvest by more than 50% this year

According to preliminary data, farmers in the Astrakhan Region have harvested about 38.5 thousand tons of rice this year, which is 54% more than last year. The rice harvest is complete, the regional Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries told TASS. Rice is one of the priority agricultural crops in Russia. In the Astrakhan Region, 15 enterprises are engaged in its production; farmers grow round-grain rice, long-grain varieties, and coarse rice for risotto. "As of today, according to preliminary data, we have harvested 38.5 thousand tons of rice. Last year, it was about 25 thousand tons," the regional ministry said. The department clarified that the harvesting of rice, as well as other grains in the region this year, is complete.
