Brazil's avocado production has seen a significant increase, reaching 301 thousand tons in 2021, a 53% rise from 2016. The states of São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Paraná, Rio Grande do Sul and the Federal District are the primary producers, with São Paulo being the leading contributor. Other states like Ceará are also beginning to contribute due to off-season periods. The avocado industry is projected to become the second most commercialized tropical fruit by 2030, following bananas. Brazil grows various avocado types, including Hass, Breda, Fortuna, Geada, daisy, Ouro Verde, and Quintal. The annual Hortitec event, now in its 28th edition, brings together around 400 companies and over 29,000 visitors from the horticultural and fruit growing sectors.
