Ayvalık Chamber of Commerce President Ali Uçar said that licensed warehousing for olive oil needs to be implemented. Uçar stated that per capita olive oil consumption in Turkey is 2 kilograms, which is far behind competitor countries such as Spain, Greece, and Italy in olive oil production, and despite the increasing harvest, domestic consumption has not increased, and due to unsuitable storage conditions with stock turnover, the remaining oil spoils and loses value, and for this reason, exports need to be revitalized. In the last 20 years, with the support and incentives of the state, the number of olive trees in our country has exceeded 200 million, and the target is to reach 300 million olive trees in the coming period.
