Unfavorable climate conditions during the past spring caused serious damage to cherry plantations in the country's main production areas. As a result, by mid-June, only 1,427 tons of cherries have been harvested, which is 95.1% below the level recorded at the same time in 2024. This is evident from the data in the latest operational analysis by the agricultural ministry. Over two times more open areas with cucumbers have been planted this summer compared to last year. For potatoes, the planted areas are 1.7% more, but the harvested areas are down by 61.1%. The average yield is also down – by 15.8%. Cabbage areas are 15.8% larger, but harvested areas decrease by 42.2%. For peppers and melons, there is also an increase in planted areas.
