Bangladesh has seen a surge in the cultivation of high-quality exotic fruits, with significant increases in the production of dragon fruit, oranges, strawberries, avocados, persimmons, rambutans, longans, and net melons. The country's reliance on imported fruits, which accounts for 60% of its fruit demand, has cost around €225 million annually. However, the growth in domestic production, which reached about 206,000 tons in the last financial year, is expected to reduce the need for imports. The production of oranges and dragon fruit, in particular, has seen substantial increases.
