Bangladesh to increase wheat imports to 6.7 mln tons

In the 2025/2026 wheat season, Bangladesh’s wheat imports will increase to 6.7 million tons, up 0.5 million tons from last season, according to the Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS USDA). Lower global prices and stable supply will contribute to the increase in import volumes. In Bangladesh, wheat is used to some extent as an alternative to rice. Therefore, demand for wheat flour is likely to continue to grow, while rice prices remain high.
