Bangladesh and China are in discussions about establishing a free trade agreement (FTA) to boost trade and investment between the two nations. This initiative was highlighted by Tapan Kanti Ghosh from the Bangladesh Ministry of Commerce and the Chinese ambassador to Bangladesh, Yao Wen, who also showed interest in importing mangoes, jackfruits, and potatoes from Bangladesh. With Bangladesh being a significant mango producer, generating over 1 million tons annually but facing export challenges, this FTA could notably enhance the export prospects for Bangladeshi products, including mangoes, which have experienced fluctuating export levels in recent years.
