With the official confirmation from the national government and the subsequent dissemination of the complete document from the United States, the Argentine meat sector received a pleasant surprise on Thursday: not only was it finally confirmed, after months of uncertainty, that the export quota would be expanded, but it will be much more than expected. To the already existing 20,000 tonnes with preferential access to the U.S. market, an additional 80,000 tonnes will now be added, thus completing a total of 100,000 tonnes of Argentine beef that can enter the United States under a symbolic tariff of just over $40 per tonne (which does not reach 1% of the average FOB value). That is why the sector speaks of a "zero tariff". In the agricultural sector, the responses were not long in coming. Celebrations quickly arrived at the rural entities that represent the ranchers and applause among the main stakeholders.
