The 2025/26 barley season in Ukraine began with a "battle" among international traders for the first volumes shipped to ports, writes GrainTrade. Against the backdrop of information about low yields and the need to form initial export batches, exporters raised prices for feed barley every day, and over the week, export prices increased by 400-500 UAH/t to 9400-9500 UAH/t or 198-200 $/t with delivery to Black Sea ports. Such a wild price increase usually forces farmers to refrain from active sales while waiting for further price increases, so they sell grain only in small batches. It should be noted that barley quality is quite high, and the first batches had a nature weight of 630-650 g/l, meaning that even in the south, the yield is not as bad as in southeastern Ukraine.
