Russian agricultural producers have sown 760.4 thousand hectares of winter barley and 7428.6 thousand hectares of spring barley for this season. Russia ranks second in the world in barley production, with a 13% share. Spring barley is popular due to its drought resistance. Brewing companies are involved in the development of new barley varieties. There is no problem selling barley domestically, and exports are on the rise. Last year, barley exports increased by 39% to $982 million.
