The year has been extremely successful for beekeepers in the Smolyan region, with the climate change and the unusually hot summer having a favorable impact on the bee colonies in the region, Nadezhda Miteva from the "Rhodope Bee" association commented to the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency. For the second consecutive year, the yields of beekeepers in the Smolyan area are significantly higher than usual, highlights Atanas Kostandinov, the president of the association. On average, his members have obtained 18 kilograms of honey per hive, which is quite above the usual amounts for the mountainous region, Kostandinov specifies. In individual apiaries, the yields reach up to 20-25 kilograms per hive, according to "Rhodope Bee".
