A three-year project by Cer and Coprob on new irrigation systems for sugar beet has shown that drip irrigation with the Irriframe irrigation board and mulching can save water and increase yields of roots and sucrose. Preliminary 2023 results suggest that precision irrigation systems can boost sugar beet's resilience to climate change, productivity, and quality. Research in Budrio highlighted significant sucrose production and economic benefits, especially with late grubbing. The project aims to validate these findings in the 2024 and 2025 campaigns, underscoring the importance of irrigation in crop management.
