Belarus imposed an embargo on fresh produce from the EU and other Western countries in January 2022, leading to a ban on imports of a wide range of products including fruits, vegetables, and nuts. This resulted in a sharp increase in food prices and a shortage of basic products in Belarus. Despite these measures, the country reopened its market to European suppliers in April, allowing the import of several fruits, vegetables, and seeds. In September, the Belarusian government published a decree allowing the importation of additional goods, including seed potatoes, onions, and various vegetables and fruits.
