Belgian pork sector comes with its own animal welfare label

Posted: 08/10/2021 Save as favorite The Belgian pig sector will soon be introducing its own animal welfare label that gives supermarkets and butchers the opportunity to offer customers local pork that has been guaranteed to be produced according to far-reaching animal welfare standards that exceed the statutory standards. In addition to transparency for consumers, the label also offers producers the opportunity to differentiate themselves. The new label offers each retailer who will use the label the opportunity to put their own emphasis on any extra efforts that they and their customers find important. The Belpork label offers retailers a modular program with a strict set of basic standards, on which butchers, supermarkets and other retailers can set their own requirements.
