The Netherlands is the largest importer of chicken from Ukraine due to the low grain price allowing for cheap production and the EU's tariff-free policy during war conditions. Of the monthly 20,000 tons of Ukrainian chicken entering the EU, 60 percent is imported by the Netherlands, equivalent to 20 million meat chickens. This has caused market disruption as the chicken fails to meet EU standards and only benefits one major company in Ukraine, according to the National Poultry Association.
