Turkey: Big blow to illegal horse mackerel hunting in Istanbul

Istanbul Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry continues its inspections against poaching within the scope of the Fisheries Law No. 1380. In the midnight operation of the Coast Guard Marmara and Straits Regional Command, 538 boxes of horse mackerel were seized at the Yenikapı fish landing point. Upon examination, it was determined that the fish were below the legal size limits. Horse mackerel fish, weighing approximately 8 tons in total, were confiscated on the grounds that they were caught in violation of size prohibitions.
