The consumption of organic food in Europe is growing, reported Stoyko Apostolov from the BioSelena Foundation following a meeting of the IFOAM Organics Europe council. In some countries – such as Austria, France, Finland, and the Netherlands – the number of organic farms is slightly decreasing or growing more slowly. Despite this, the consumption of organic products continues to increase, mainly due to imports. In other regions, the situation is stable, with steady, albeit moderate, growth in both organic production and demand. Examples include Switzerland, Sweden, Norway, and certain parts of Spain.
