In the first quarter of this year, Vietnam has seen a significant increase in shrimp exports to the EU, with whiteleg shrimp exports up by 59% and black tiger shrimp exports surging by 107%, including a 117% increase in live/fresh/frozen black tiger shrimp. The largest importers of black tiger shrimp in the EU are Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Belgium, and France. Vietnam's black tiger shrimp, as the second largest supplier to the EU market, enjoys competitive advantages due to tariff incentives from the EVFTA Agreement, fresh products, and increasing ASC certification. However, the competitiveness of Bangladeshi black tiger shrimp suppliers to the EU market is reduced due to quality and traceability issues. The demand for shrimp in the EU is expected to continue to rise, with the top 10 enterprises exporting black tiger shrimp from Vietnam to the EU listed.
