The 'blue tongue' disease has been reported in the Havsa village in Turkey's Edirne region. In response, eight villages have been quarantined with restrictions on transport and livestock markets. The disease, which affects agricultural livestock, was identified after reports of sick animals. The veterinary authorities have isolated the diseased animals and urged farmers to monitor for symptoms and vaccinate their animals. This outbreak marks the return of the disease in Turkey since its detection in deer and mouflon in the Blagoevgrad region in December 2020.
