Germany is experiencing a rapid increase in bluetongue type 3 (BTV-3) outbreaks, with 1,184 new cases in a week, bringing the total to 7,434 for the year. The epidemic, which started after 1 June, has affected various animals including sheep, cattle, goats, mouflons, alpacas, and camels. The epidemic has also spread to neighboring countries such as Belgium, France, Denmark, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Spain, and Andorra. The UK has reported 15 outbreaks and has implemented a transport ban and approved three vaccines for sheep and cattle.
