The Bolivian National Customs is increasing controls on highways and border areas to prevent the illegal export of corn. Customs personnel at the borders will be increased, and the entity has seized over USD 22,379,000 in contraband products from January 1 to May 12, including over USD 160,012 worth of corn. Since April 18, the Ministry of Productive Development and Plural Economy has ceased issuing certifications for the export of corn, sorghum, and soybeans. Recently, 230 sacks of flour were confiscated by Customs before they could be exported.
