The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Indonesia has announced that the country will not import any Israeli dates. This decision comes after the Indonesian Ulema Council urged Muslims in the country to refrain from consuming products linked to Israel in solidarity with Palestine. Despite the lack of diplomatic ties between Indonesia and Israel, trade between the two nations has been ongoing, with imports from Israel to Indonesia reaching US$ 14.4 million from January to September 2023. The majority of Indonesia's date palm imports are sourced from Tunisia, Iran, and Saudi Arabia.
