Indonesia: Rice harvest area in Central Java decreases

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SEMARANG -- The Central Java Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded that the area of rice harvested in this province throughout 2023 was recorded at 1.64 million hectares. Head of Central Java BPS Dadang Hardiwan in Semarang, Friday (1/3/2024) said that this area was lower than the previous year which reached 1.69 hectares. According to him, from that large area, the amount of rice production in 2023 will be recorded at 9.08 million tons. "Rice production in 2023 will decrease compared to the previous year which reached 9.36 million tons," he said. He explained that if we look at the land area, the area with the largest harvest area is in Grobogan Regency, which reaches 129.63 thousand hectares.
