As of February 24, soybean harvesting is nearing completion in Brazil, which has delayed the sowing of safrinha corn. Only 39.1% of the planned sowing areas have been prepared, which is behind the previous year's progress of 52.4%. The delay is attributed to heavy rains, particularly in the south-central regions. Despite the setback, the total sown area for safrinha corn is projected to increase to 14.9 million hectares, up from 14.8 million hectares last season. The most significant sowing activities are taking place in Mato Grosso, Goias, Mato Grosso do Sul, Parana, Minas Gerais, and Sao Paulo.
