President Jair Bolsonaro and Paraguayan President Mario Abdo Benítez discussed the potential for tilapia farming in the Itaipu Hydroelectric Power Plant's reservoir, with the annual capacity being 400 thousand tons. However, current Paraguayan law does not permit tilapia cultivation in the reservoir. The meeting resulted in plans to change this legislation, which could lead to a 40% increase in Brazilian production and a 20-fold increase in Paraguayan production. A seminar is planned for February to further discuss this investment opportunity for both countries.
