MDIC resumes anti-dumping investigation against powdered milk from Mercosur

The Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade and Services (MDIC) accepted the appeal filed by the Confederation of Agriculture and Livestock of Brazil (CNA) and will resume the investigation into dumping practices against powdered milk from Mercosur. The decision was announced in a meeting with representatives of the production sector, dairy sector parliamentarians, and the vice president and minister, Geraldo Alckmin, on Tuesday afternoon at the ministry's headquarters. In practice, the government has changed its understanding and now considers raw milk to be similar to imported powdered milk. Initially, the government's understanding was that imported milk was similar to powdered milk processed by the industry, and not raw milk produced by livestock farmers, who requested the opening of the dumping investigation by the CNA.
