Brazil and Peru sign agreement to open market between the countries

On Tuesday (5), the Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Carlos Fávaro, and the Peruvian Ambassador, Rómulo Acurio, signed an agreement that establishes the commitment to open the Brazilian apple market to Peru and the Peruvian citrus market to Brazil. Until now, Peru had only imported apples from Chile, with Brazil being the second country to access this promising market. “A good trade relationship, and President Lula says this every day, is one in which we sell and also buy. So, this event today shows us that we are indeed selling our products, but also buying Peruvian products,” Minister Fávaro began. Ambassador Rómulo described the day as historic. “It has been three years since Brazil and Peru were able to sign an agreement for product access. We are very happy and grateful,” he said.
