Vietnam continues to be the leading supplier of white meat fish to Brazil, despite a 51% drop in exports. The majority of these exports are pangasius, which brought in $113 million in 2023, marking a 19% increase from the previous year. However, Brazil has halted imports of tilapia from Vietnam due to concerns over the TiLV virus and has issues with the application of additive and phosphate standards for local pangasius. Meanwhile, Vietnam is seeking approval from Brazil for the import of shellless and headless frozen shrimp and the use of phosphate in pangasius meat.
