Since the cases of Lobesia botrana were detected back in 2010, this is the first time Argentina will be able to send fresh fruits from free areas to Brazil without restrictions. These are mainly blueberries, plums, pomegranates, and especially grapes, which can now be exported without the need for costly extra investments. This was determined by Brazil's Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (MAPA), which officially recognized Argentina's areas free of the grapevine moth. These areas were defined by Senasa's Provision 670/2021 and comprise all provinces except Mendoza and San Juan, which are considered areas where the pest still circulates. This measure means that producers of fruits suspected of containing Lobesia botrana from free zones will no longer have to face extra costs for export.
