The average value of the steer in the Mercosur region, particularly driven by Brazil, has increased to US$3.40 per kilo carcass, the highest in seven weeks. This increase is due to a rise in prices in reais and a 0.9% appreciation of the exchange rate in Brazil. Meanwhile, in Argentina, the export steer remained firm at US$3.59 per kilo carcass. However, in Uruguay and Paraguay, the trends were downward, with the special steer in Uruguay dropping 10 cents to US$3.50, and the bull for slaughter in Paraguay dropping between 5 and 10 cents to US$3.20.
