A seminar organized by Invest Paraná, the state’s investment program of Brazil, highlighted the potential of yerba mate production in Brazil, particularly in Paraná, to penetrate the Arab market. The seminar noted the significant demand for yerba mate in Arab countries like Syria, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and the United Arab Emirates, with most imports made by Argentina, Paraguay, Germany, and the United States in 2021. However, Brazil's exports to these countries have been minimal. Sotirios Ghinis, an economist from the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC), emphasized the potential for Brazil to increase its exports, given the growing demand for tea in the Arab world. The seminar also discussed the benefits of Arab free zones as potential sales hubs for the global Muslim market.
