The recent update by Fundecitrus on the orange harvest forecast for the 2022-2023 season in São Paulo and West-Southwest Minas Gerais has seen a slight decrease of 0.9% in the initial estimate, totaling 314.09 million cartons. This represents a reduction of 2.86 million cartons from the May projection, attributing the adjustment primarily to the dry conditions experienced in recent months, despite a more favorable rainfall pattern compared to last year. The production is anticipated to concentrate in the Triangulo Mineiro region, with an estimated 75.2% of the total harvest. The decline rate for Hamlin, Westin, and Rubi varieties has been adjusted downward, while other early varieties also see a slight decrease in expected production. Overall, the forecast reflects a slightly lower yield due to rainfall shortfalls, even as the current climate improves upon the previous year.
