Brazil closed the first half of the year with exports of 389.2 thousand tons of processed rice and revenue of US$ 123.1 million, according to data from the Brazilian Rice Industry Association (Abiarroz). The numbers represent a 12.7% drop compared to the same period last year. Senegal, Gambia, and Peru were the main destinations for Brazilian rice. "This result is, among other factors, a reflection of India's resumption of rice exports, which had been suspended since 2022. The return of this important global exporter to the circuit, in October of last year, considerably impacted the competitiveness of Brazilian rice. From March onwards, however, with the entry of the harvest, we had more competitive prices, which makes us optimistic for this second half," explains Abiarroz's Director of International Affairs, Gustavo Trevisan. In June, 71.8 thousand tons of grain were shipped, with revenue of US$ 20.4 million, an increase of 107% compared to the same period of the previous year. ...
