Brazil has opened markets to begin exporting dried distillers grains with solubles (DDG) to Malaysia and macaúba and pecan nuts to the Republic of Korea, the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) announced this Tuesday (18). According to the ministry, Malaysian phytosanitary authorities authorized the purchase of the co-product of ethanol production from grains, especially corn, with high protein, energy, and phosphorus content, DDG, used as an ingredient in feed for cattle, pigs, and poultry. The Asian country has over 35 million inhabitants and imported $1.2 billion in agri-food products from Brazil in 2024. "The new opening adds to recent authorizations for the export of capture and farmed fish, apples, melons, powdered eggs, and sesame to Malaysia, consolidating a diversified agenda that serves both the processed food market and the country's food service and tourism segment," says the Ministry in a statement.
