Malaysian health authorities have recently approved four additional meatpacking plants in Brazil for halal chicken meat exports to Malaysia, increasing the total to seven authorized facilities. These plants, owned by BRF, JBS Aves, and Vibra Agroindustrial, are strategically located across Mato Grosso do Sul, Minas Gerais, Paraná, and Rio Grande do Sul. This approval marks a significant development, as Malaysia, known for its strict halal standards, has seen a 45.7% increase in chicken meat imports from Brazil last year, totaling 13.6 thousand tons. The Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA) views this as a positive step towards strengthening Brazil's position as the leading exporter of halal chicken meat and expanding its footprint in the Islamic market.
