Brazil's environmental agency, Ibama, has restricted the use of thiamethoxam, a bee-toxic pesticide, by banning its application through machinery like tractors or agricultural aircraft. However, its use in seed treatment and land preparation is still permitted. The pesticide, produced by Syngenta and registered in over 80 countries, has faced similar restrictions elsewhere. Syngenta has criticized the decision, arguing it will negatively affect local farmers and is seeking legal recourse. This decision could significantly impact China's thiamethoxam production and export, as well as the global agricultural export trade, given Brazil is its largest market.
