Brazil, the world’s largest coffee producer, exported 2.78 million bags (of 60 kilos) of the grain in January, with a 30.8% drop compared to the same month in 2025, reported the sector’s trade association on Tuesday. Revenue from coffee shipments in the first month of 2026 was limited to 1.175 billion dollars, 11.7% less than in January of the previous year, according to the Council of Coffee Exporters (Cecafé) of Brazil. According to the entity’s president, Márcio Ferreira, the drop in the prices of the grain in the global markets due to the forecast that Brazil will harvest a record crop in 2026 "discouraged international business." The leader added that, as Brazil’s domestic market is managing to satisfy the demand for arabica coffee with robusta coffee, the volume exported was reduced, something that, in his opinion, will continue until the start of the next harvest, in June.
