The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry in Turkey is conducting a food inspection campaign, with Deputy Minister Ayşe Ayşin Işıkgece leading the effort in Ankara. The campaign aims to inspect 720,000 food enterprises across the country, with a team of 7,300 inspectors. During an inspection at a shopping mall in Ankara, a pastry business was fined 6,77 liras for health code violations, including storing harmful cooking products improperly and not storing products at the required cold chain temperature. Businesses found non-compliant have a week to correct deficiencies, and fines and penalties can range from 50,000 lira to 2,000,000 lira, as well as imprisonment and bans from the profession. Consumers are also encouraged to report violations anonymously.
