Businessman Convicted of Selling Irregular Seeds

The irregularity was found during an inspection by the Integrated Agricultural Development Company of Santa Catarina (Cidasc). Technicians from the entity collected seed samples and identified the presence of 120 seeds from other species, a number significantly higher than the maximum allowed by law, which is 48 for the type of analysis performed. In the decision, the judges recognized the responsibility of the company's managing partner, who acted as the technical manager for the seed sector. The company, however, was acquitted, since Brazilian legislation does not provide for criminal liability of legal entities in this specific type of offense.
