According to Oil World (Germany), in the first 8 months of the current year, Egypt imported 2.9 million tons of soybeans, which is 1 million tons more than the corresponding figure for 2024.
The increase in supplies was facilitated by low soybean prices, particularly for American soybeans. Therefore, during the specified period, the United States doubled its soybean shipments to Egypt to 2.2 million tons, pushing Brazil and Ukraine out of the market.
However, the sharp increase in soybean processing by Egypt reduced the need for soybean meal imports, which during October to July 2024/25 MR halved to 200 thousand tons. First and foremost, supplies from Argentina decreased.
In light of China's refusal to purchase American soybeans, they are being offered at a significant discount in the traditional markets for Ukrainian soybeans, the EU and Egypt. And this trend will continue this season.
