From September to November each year, the pistachio orchards in California's Central Valley enter their peak harvest season. According to industry data estimates from the Almond Board of California, the U.S. pistachio production for the 2025 season is expected to reach 680,000 to 770,000 tons, a significant increase of up to 12% from the average production of 590,000 tons in the 2023 and 2024 seasons. Thanks to their drought-resistant properties and high economic value, California pistachios have seen a continuous expansion in planting area over the past decade, making them the sixth-largest agricultural product in the region, with a value surpassing that of traditional crops such as strawberries and tomatoes.
