France: Calf trade remains fluid, with prices stabilizing

Calves for fattening and breeding – Integrators are struggling to cover their needs, with more sustained export activity after two shortened weeks. Trade is fluid for this week with sorting that is not very strict on the part of buyers in Holstein calves. This upward trend is also observed in Germany, while volumes shipped from Ireland to Spain remain significant. Good exported Montbéliards are at attractive prices. The decline in supply allows a more active flow in dairy, white blue or mixed crossbreeds with firm prices. Good crossbred males or females/Montbéliards or Blanc bleus remain in demand and well valued. In Limousins, prices are stabilizing. Slaughter calves – Industry players are expecting a lot from the promotional campaign launched for Pentecost veal, with favorable climatic conditions and temperatures that are not too high.
