Cambodian authorities release investigation results on foreign drug-infused durian entering Cambodia

On June 21, the General Department of Consumer Protection, Competition and Anti-Fraud (CCF) of the Ministry of Commerce of Cambodia issued a notice stating that recently many Cambodian media have reported that some merchants have imported durian from neighboring countries, soaked it with chemicals and sold it as local durian. After learning the news, government departments immediately took action to investigate the Cambodian market and some border ports. Preliminary investigation results showed that merchants selling durian claimed that their products were all from Cambodia, produced in Kampot, Kampong Cham, Battambang and Tbong Khmum. Despite this, the investigation showed that a small amount of durian did enter Cambodia from neighboring countries through some border ports.
