Climate change is expected to significantly impact the agricultural sector, potentially leading to the loss ofsuitable cultivation areas for various crops and increased production challenges. Coffee production is expected to be severely affected, with up to 88% of Latin American areas expected to become unsuitable by 2050. Other crops such as beer ingredients, wine, tequila, and cereals and legumes are also expected to be impacted. The demand for staple foods like maize, rice, and wheat is projected to increase by 33% by 2050, while soybean cultivation could decline by 40% by the end of the century. Cocoa cultivation is also threatened by high temperatures, with nearly 90% of cocoa-growing areas already impacted by a projected temperature rise of 2-2.1 degrees Celsius.
