Canada's wheat and oat production up, canola down

Statistics Canada's survey for the year 2024 reveals a mixed outcome for the country's agricultural sector. Oat production has experienced a significant boost of 14.2%, contrary to the 14.7% decrease in barley production. The weather conditions have played a crucial role, with below-average rainfall and high temperatures leading to poorer crop conditions in the Prairies, though some areas have seen improvement from the previous year. Meanwhile, parts of Ontario have been hit by excess moisture and high temperatures, and the Atlantic provinces have experienced warmer weather and less precipitation.
