The price of Bangkok tuna (bonito) may continue to be low in October due to improved production in the Indian Ocean and Western Pacific and canners insisting on keeping raw material prices down. Some industry insiders believe that the price will remain around $1,800/t in early October, while others say it could be negotiated between $1,700/t and $1,750/t. Fishermen are resistant to these lower prices. Meanwhile, production has increased in the Indian Ocean and Western Pacific, but consumer demand remains weak. In the Seychelles, the October delivery price is between €1,525/t and €1,550/t, but it may fall below €1,500/t. The price in Manta, Ecuador is generally around $1,950/t, while in Spain it is stable at €1,850/t to €1,900/t.
