Statistics Canada (StatCan) yesterday sharply increased its forecast for canola production in Canada in 2025, which led to a decline in canola and rapeseed quotes, as analysts did not expect such a sharp increase in production estimates, especially against the backdrop of reduced acreage. November canola futures on the Winnipeg exchange yesterday fell by 2.3% to 636 CAD/t or 462 $/t, losing already 10.4% for the month amid the introduction of duties by China and uncertainty with demand from the U.S. biofuel industry, as well as an increase in the Canadian crop forecast. Following canola, November rapeseed futures in Paris also fell yesterday by 2.3% to 465.5 €/t or 543 $/t (-4.5% for the month).
